NEWSLETTER No. 58 - June 2013 |
At the end of last month's newsletter I spoke about the email we had received from the Stivale Ministries office asking us if we were prepared to accept a visit, at very short notice, from Brian and Jenni Stivale, along with their two young sons. I explained last month how this had come about, so won't repeat myself here. Brian and Jenni had been very successful in the entertainment business having worked with such great names as Andrew Lloyd Webber, and having appeared on Broadway in musicals which included “Jesus Christ Super Star”. They now live and work in Jerusalem. After a very difficult journey to get here, along with most of their possessions, they arrived at Murcia station late on Saturday night, but arrived at our service on Sunday morning fired up and ready to go. Blessing us with some powerful music, and then bringing a wonderful word in season for the church here in Spain, urging the people of God to awake and move forward. I haven't the space to cover all that they brought here, but I would urge you to listen through our web site, or for more information visit the Stivale Ministries web site. This was a very special time, and again we thank the Lord for the people He brings into our lives. |

This month we were again given a pitch at the annual Camposol Fiesta, but this year, instead of selling the usual burgers and hot dogs, Pastor Andrew thought it would be a witness to the many people attending if we gave out free bottles of water, each one labeled with the scripture - Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life” John 4:13. With a couple of minor exceptions (one from a local bar owner) the gesture was well received, and we pray that the grateful recipients were provoked into giving some thought to the significance of what we were doing. At the end of our service on the following Sunday our three children blessed us by singing two songs which really lifted our spirits, many folk standing for a better view as the youngsters really entered in to what they were doing. On the Tuesday of that week we held a film night in church, giving an opportunity for everyone to bring along friends and family. Popcorn and soft drinks were given out and the film “Courageous” was shown. A beautifully made movie with a powerful message. During the week beginning Monday 17th. We were visited by the founders and leaders of Victory Churches International, Drs. George and Hazel Hill, After a rest day on the Tuesday, they met with all those of us involved in Victory Missions at the home of Pastors Andrew and Wendy. It was wonderful, yet heart rending to hear first hand accounts from Dr. Hazel about the situation in the children's orphanage in Kisumu, Kenya. And to find out in detail what we could do to help. We were all very moved by what we learned, and as a result several of us are planning to visit Kisumu in 2014. On Thursday the leadership team had a great day of fellowship with Drs. George and Hazel, enjoying a site seeing day out in Cartagena, ending with a “Menu Del Dia” eaten in the hot Spanish sunshine in the middle of the city. On the following day we gathered for breakfast, joined by Pastors Dave and Lisa and the folk from our sister church, Hope Victory Church in La Marina, again in the warm Spanish sunshine (apologies to all of you reading this in the U.K.) before moving to church for a session on leadership training given by Dr. George. What an inspiration it was to us all. Everyone was inspired by his powerful and uplifting word. Saturday was the climax of the visit. Our conference day. The theme was “You're Never Too Old To Dream Big” (very appropriate for many of us here!!!). The building was almost full to capacity, with again, many visitors from our sister church in La Marina, and other friends who had traveled a long way to be with us. After opening the meeting with a great time of worship led by the Wellspring worship team, Pastor Hazel spoke briefly but very movingly, on the work being done at the Kisumu orphanage. As a result of her visit several people will be sponsoring a child, and people from both churches are hoping to travel to Kenya early next year. Her visit has been a real blessing and has touched many hearts. Dr. George then spoke on our main theme. I don't want to overuse the word “inspirational” but I can't find another to describe what Dr. George brought. Again I would urge you all to listen to his word through our website. |

After the meeting we gathered for a menu del dia in a lovely old Spanish restaurant, La Chara, in Isla Plana, what a great time of fun and fellowship it was. Drs. George and Hazel then left for La Marina where they would be speaking the next day, before traveling to Kenya at the beginning of the following week.
What a privilege it has been to have these two powerful servants of God with us. Many strong and lasting bonds were formed during these few, precious days. But the Lord's blessings continued to flow. The following day we welcomed Pastors Will and Barbie Graham who head up Victory Churches Europe, and pastor the Victory church in Rugely. They are well known to many of us here at Wellspring. Also visiting were Pastor Andrew's sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and John Harper who also pastor a Victory church in Canada, Ruth gave a very moving testimony, speaking of her healing, and John then told of how he was led by the Lord to where he is now, after spending several years in Spain, Pastor Barbie led the worship which included a new song that had been introduced at the U.K. conference called “Come Away With Me”, all were very moved. Pastor Will then went on to tell us that we should look to those who will lift us and inspire us, that no matter what our age or ability God has a plan for us, we may not know what it is, but He does. He went on to say that joy comes from the Lord, and not from worldly possessions. I'm going to use that word again. What a truly uplifting and inspirational word it was. |

On the very last day of a very special month, many in the congregation were moved to tears as Juani Marie gave testimony, bringing a heart rending word on how the Lord had moved in her life during the previous week. Juani Marie's story would fill a newsletter on its own, but suffice to say that many stepped forward to pray with her, and all were deeply moved by the experience. It was a joy to have our friends Chris and Dawn from Victory church in Rugely with us, and a privilege to have them serve communion. This has been an action packed and truly blessed month. This newsletter cannot begin to express the joy and the blessings that the Lord has showered on us . Thank you Lord. God bless. Wellspring Victory Church. |
