NEWSLETTER No. 57 - May 2013
What a great start to the month we had with our “Rock 'n Gospel” outreach on the Country Club urbanisation near Mazarron. The venue was packed to overflowing with both church and non-church people who enjoyed an evening of entertainment hosted by Pastor Andrew, with the music provided by Pastor Wendy, Dave Earl (a.k.a. Pastor Dave Bickerdike from our sister church in La Marina) Cliff and Julia. The music included some very moving Christian solos with lots of 50's and 60's Rock 'n Roll, and all the performers took the opportunity to speak on our beliefs and what we are all about. Cliff and Dave teamed up to perform some terrific Everly Brothers numbers, and what I personally found particularly moving was when Dave announced that he was going to sing the Elvis number “The Wonder Of You”, but asked the audience to concentrate on the Lord as they listened to the words. A very special few moments. This was a wonderful way to reach out into the non-Christian community, and we pray that many hearts were touched.

A full house for our “Rock 'n Gospel” evening.New faces enjoying the outreach.
We were blessed with many new faces in our congregation on the following Sunday, our visitors almost outnumbered the regulars as we enter that time of year when temperatures nudge into the thirties, many of our flock prepare to return to cooler climes for the summer as our numbers are swelled by friends returning to enjoy the wonderful Spanish climate and we look forward to welcoming new visitors for the first time. During the service Pastor Andrew was able to give details of our next outreach initiative, On Tuesday 18th. June we will be showing the full length feature film “Courageous” in church. This is a full length “Hollywood quality” movie which was not made as a Christian film but, which carries a powerful message. Free popcorn will be served and soft drinks will be available. This is an ideal opportunity to bring along friends, neighbours and family members whether Christians or not. Doors open at 6:00 pm and the film will start at 6:30 pm. Admission is free.
In order to enable us to devote more time to Missions, we are using a slightly different format for our services on the third Sunday of each month, which is dedicated to Missions throughout the Victory movement. After the Missions presentation the service will be centred around communion and after a short word the congregation are invited to contribute a word, a reading, a prayer, a song or whatever is on their heart to share. This month we were blessed by many contributions in a very moving service during which the presence of the Lord was very real. It was wonderful to see so many visitors swelling our numbers, all of them old friends who are with us whenever they are in the area, many hearts were touched as we told of the plight of the children in the Kisumu orphanage. We were able to announce that we are about to send another 200 euros off to Kenya, and several fund raising efforts for the orphanage are planned to take place over the summer. We have now received details of the precious little girl who we, as a church are sponsoring at the Kisumu orphanage, we feel very strongly that we are going to become personaly involved in this vital project.
On a very different note, we would ask for your prayers as Pastor Andrew informed us that we are still struggling with Spanish bureaucracy over the issue of our disabled access. There are many alternatives and we would ask that you would pray for a straightforward and financially viable solution.
During our service on the following Sunday, Pastor Andrew was able to announce that, after our request for prayer the week before, a generous benefactor had come forward and provided the finance for the provision of the disabled access, plans are now well advanced and we hope to be able to announce that work is progress very soon. After a great time of praise and worship Steve and Margaret led us through a very moving time around the Lord's table.
Towards the end of the month we received an email which surprised and shocked us a little. It was from the office of Stivale Ministries, and said that Brian and Jeni Stivale, along with their two sons Gabriel and Benjamin, were on a cruise ship in mid- Atlantic en-route for Barcelona, and that they had been called by God to visit us here at Wellspring. As Pastor Andrew (not Humphrey Bogart) said, “Of all the churches in all of Spain, why have they chosen us?” But they hadn't chosen us. God had. The very short notice travel arrangements were complicated and exhausting, but the Lord wanted them here, and so here they arrived. As I write this Brian and Jeni have arrived and have spoken at our Sunday morning service. It is difficult to put into words what a blessing they have been to us, but the service was on the 2nd. of June, and so details will be in next months newsletter. We are living in very special times and the Lord is truly blessing us in this beautiful little corner of His creation.
Just two weeks after Brian and Jeni's visit comes another exciting event. Victory Churches Of Spain are presenting a half day conference with Drs. George and Hazel Hill on Saturday 22nd. June. The theme of the conference will be “You're Never Too Old To Dream Big” (Nice title for most of us out here !!!) and it will be held in church starting at 10:00 a.m. and finishing at 2:30 p.m. Coffee will be served before the event from 9:30. There is no charge for attending the conference, but it would be a help if you could let us know whether you intend to attend. Come along and be inspired.

God bless.

Wellspring Victory Church.
