NEWSLETTER No. 52 - December 2012
On the 1st. December a large number of us gathered in the village hall at Aljibe for what has become our annual Christmas lunch. The room had been beautifuly prepared, and we joined the ”locals” for a great time of fun and fellowship. The village mayor was on hand to help serve the traditional British Christmas fayre, and the afternoon was rounded off by the “Wellspring Singers” leading us all in much appreciated Christmas carols. This was a wonderful opportunity to reach out to many who do not yet know the Lord, and we thank Him for the beautiful place He has brought us to, and the people He has surrounded us with.

After church on the following Sunday several of us drove up to the home of Ken and Carol at Los Almagros to help celebrate Carol's **th. birthday. In glorious warm December sunshine we again enjoyed a time of good food and great fellowship. We have much to thank the Lord for in this precious part of His creation.

After our very well attended monthly breakfast held at “The New Royal”, we all drove the short distance to church to hear Pastors Dave and Lisa Bickerdike give their testimonies. Dave and Lisa pastor Hope Christian Fellowship, our Victory church in La Marina near Alicante. What a refreshing breath of fresh air their testimony was. Dave told of his tough start in life before he began his walk with the Lord, and then met Lisa, and they continued to obey the call of the Lord together. Lisa told of her early years, being brought up in a Christian home, before filling in details of their life together. We were all truly blessed.

At the end of the meeting many went forward for prayer and to re-commit themselves to the Lord.

The Christmas season presents us with many God given opportunities to reach out and touch many who have not yet given their hearts to the Lord, and this year was no exception. At the beginning of the month we were again involved in the “Star Service” held in the Tanatorio in Mazarron. This service aims to bring together those who have lost someone dear to them, either recently or not so recently, and offers a time of reflection and comfort.

As a result of this service we were asked to sing carols in one of the local “Brit” owned bars, SaraLara's bar in Puerto de Mazarron. Many customers were deeply moved as we were able to put the Christ back into Christmas for those who so badly needed His touch.

In the week leading up to Christmas we held carol services on four consecutive nights on the four sectors of Camposol. Those on sectors “A” and “D” were particularly well attended, as we enjoyed a wonderful atmosphere of fellowship and camaraderie. What a blessing it was to have Ken and Carol's son, Ben, with us to play the bagpipes. He really lifted everyone's spirits and helped to change the attitude of many there, and show them that Christians really can have fun. We must express our gratitude to Donna and Sue who travelled up from our sister church in Huercal Overa to boost our carol singing by playing keyboards. Again many were touched by what we were able to bring to this very special season, it was a great privilege to be able to turn the thoughts of so many to the true meaning of Christmas.

At the end of our service on 23rd. we prayed for Pastors Andrew & Wendy as they were to fly to the UK on Boxing Day to spend precious time with their daughter Sarah, son-in-law Ade and baby grand daughter Baylie, before they fly out to a new life in Australia. This will be a very difficult and emotional time for our pastors, and we ask for your prayers. We again held our Christmas Eve service in church, this year on a night of very unusual weather for us here in Spain. Thick fog! The weather may have deterred some, but again we had a time of warm fellowship in a service which included videos, readings, carols, solos from Cliff and Pastor Wendy and a word from Pastor Andrew. Again many non-Christians were very touched by their experience. At the end of the service we fellowshiped over hot drinks, sausage rolls and mince pies.

The Christmas season has been a very busy one for Wellspring, and we thank the Lord for the opportunities He has placed in our path. We look forward with eager anticipation to what He has planned for us in 2013.

May the Lord bless and prosper you all throughout the coming year.

Wellspring Victory Church.
