GROWING TOGETHER IN GOD

NEWSLETTER No. 51 - November 2012

What a blessing it was to see Bert step up when Pastor Andrew asked for volunteers from the congregation to serve communion during our first service in November. Just a few weeks earlier Bert had been lying in a Cartagena hospital, very seriously ill, after a series of strokes. But with much prayer, and love, care and devotion from his wife, Brenda, our “senior member” has made a miraculous recovery and been able to return to playing an active role in the life of the church. Thank you Lord. During the service Christine read a very moving poem about the crucifixion which she had written herself. She touched many hearts.

This year, as Remembrance Sunday fell on the 11th. November, we were asked to lead the service in the Remembrance Garden, Los Palacios on Camposol “A”. The day began with very untypical Spanish weather, cold winds and heavy rain, as we true British diehards struggled to erect the gazebo. Right on cue, five minutes before the service started, the rain stopped and a large crowd gathered. This was a wonderful opportunity to witness to a large gathering, and many were touched by the worship and the word brought by Pastor Andrew. Pastor Andrew also led us into the two minutes silence by playing the “Last Post” (a little nervously, but without a glitch) on his electric trumpet. He then ended the silence by playing “Reveille”. A moving service which brought lots of very positive feedback from the large crowd.

The following week was Missions Sunday, when we showed the video and Blin spoke on Victory Mission's work in Malawi. After a time of praise and worship communion was served by Phil and Tony.

That evening a number of us visited the home of Ken & Carol near Los Almagros, where the house was full to capacity, with many travelling from all over the region to hear TV evangelist Dr. Peter Gammons speak. After watching a recording of a TV interview between Peter and Sid Roth, the meeting took the form of a question and answer session, with much lively debate and a powerful time of prayer, when many were touched by the Holy Spirit. The evening was rounded off by celebrating Rebekah's 3rd. birthday with a huge cake and a cold buffet. This was a wonderful opportunity for like minded Christians to meet and fellowship together, and we thank Ken & Carol for their work in uniting local churches.

Later that week, again at the home of Ken & Carol, a large crowd gathered under a clear but cold sky to hear the Harlequin Choir. This was a fund raiser for “Operation Smile” which funds operations for children in impoverished nations to correct cleft lips and cleft palates. A life changing event for both sufferers and their families. Hot dogs were provided as we gathered round the bonfire, and a great night was had by all.

The following Sunday worship was led for the first time by Blin and Pastor Wendy, and what a blessed time it was. The wonderful presence of the Lord was very real, and many were deeply moved.

Christmas out here in Spain is very different from what we are used to in the UK, but our plans are rapidly taking shape, with our service of remembrance in the Tanatorio on 3rd. December, carol services on Camposol on 19th. 20th. 21st. and 22nd. and our own Christmas Eve service in church we have a busy month ahead with much to look forward to and many opportunities to reach out into the local community and win lost souls for Christ.

Wishing you all a happy and blessed Christmas,

Wellspring Victory Church.
