It’s been a very busy summer, the days melted into weeks and months and then suddenly it was September! Autumn already, a time of returning. Children return to school after the summer break. Leaves begin to fall from the trees in preparation for winter and return to the earth from whence they came. Birds of all sorts begin their migration patterns either from us to warmer climates or to us from colder ones.
The swallows who arrived back in April left this week to fly to Africa. An incredible journey for such little creatures. To think of how they know when and where to go, how they stay on course for hundreds of miles, and then return when the weather begins to soften here, is mind-blowing. To the humanist it’s all a product of evolution of course, but we see the hand of our Father, the Almighty, the Creator of the Universe.
We watched as the swallows gathered together in readiness for their flight, lots of noise and busyness and excitement. It made me think of our own departure! The Body of Christ is getting ready to meet Jesus in the air! There is lots of excitement, busyness and noise. But it’s not all good! Much of the noise isn’t the sound of praise to our God, that we are living in such an amazing time in history. It isn’t the proclamation of victory or the supremacy of the King of kings. Its talk of the devil’s works, producing fear and dread. So many Christians are highlighting and focusing upon darkness. Social media is full of reports of torture and carnage. Evil is evil, it’s no worse than it was in ages past, we just need to think of Nero and the atrocities committed against the early Christians to know that.
My friends be careful who you place on the stage of your life! The one you focus on and give attention to is the one you exalt! Don’t give the enemy a platform on which to perform. It does not give glory to God, we do not ‘need to know’ what the enemy is doing. We need to know our God and what He has done and is doing! Focusing upon the works of God produces faith, focusing on the works of the enemy produces fear.
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.
We know that the end of the age approaches, we do not need to fear what is to come, we do not need to worry if we will be ready. Jesus will ‘present’ us holy and blameless and above reproach in His sight (Col:1:22) He is able to keep you from stumbling and to ‘present’ you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy (Jude 24) God is able – hallelujah! Focus on Him. Whether He calls us home, or we live to hear the great Trumpet sound and rise to meet Him in the air, one thing is for sure, it’s is by HIS power and HIS authority and HIS love and by HIS Spirit that we will overcome and enter into HIS eternal rest.
Love & Blessings
